5-Minute-Meditation: Find

By Anne Levin

Transformation involves finding the gain from past pain and moving forward with forgiveness.

(Joanne Klassen)

Maybe that’s what finding my authentic voice is all about. In my very first Transformative Life WritingTM course, I en-visioned my creativity as a secret garden that I’d lost the key to long ago. I feared I’d never return there and was searching and searching for a key. Here I discovered that there was no key—and that the door wasn’t, and had never been, locked. Next a revelation of a kind of spiritual photosynthesis sprang from just a wee green paperclip. And wild nature ran and sparkled through all my notepads, reviving me, sustaining me. My passion tank. My oxygen tank.

They’re all here in this transformative process, pushing me into discomfort. Changed perception leads to understand-ing, leads to forgiveness, and forgiveness is love. I’m not sure I want to go there. I’d like to wallow a while longer in resentment, anger, indignation. When you feel wronged you feel almost deliciously right. My grudges feel as comfy as tatty old slippers. I know they don’t flatter me, but I don’t want to part with them, the longer I’ve had them the more they feel part of me.

Forgiveness takes more. It’s a mountain to climb. But that’s where this road is leading, right to that mountain and up its steep slopes.

I climb the mountain towards

forgiveness and love.
